About Maggie

As a child my mother would take me on little adventures around Southern California’s open houses. We would critique the design of each home; the layouts, functionality, finishes, how we’d design it differently, and who we thought would live in each home. Thus, I like to say I’ve been designing homes since elementary school. In reality it sparked my passion for Residential Architecture.

I went on to obtain my Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2009, followed by a Masters Degree in Architecture from NewSchool of Architecture and Design, San Diego in 2011.

My professional career began with accessibility consulting, a precious segment of Architecture that is often overlooked, yet pivotal to creating homes and spaces that can withstand time and aging. I then took that skill into the world of high-end residential work with prominent Architects in Santa Monica, CA and later Seattle, WA. It was then I learned that Residential Architecture is more than just design; it is life curated in built form. Most importantly, I learned my love for Residential Architecture was too big; I needed to explore my own path.

In 2013 I established WAKEdesign, llc in the Pacific Northwest. Working on a variety of projects from small kitchen remodels, to complex house lifts, 2nd floor additions, all the way to new builds. No matter the size of the project, I am still humbled every time I see a smile on my clients face when they move into a home that is uniquely theirs; their own oasis.

Now, 10 years after starting my own design firm, you can bet my mom and I still tell each other about any open house we visit.
